The hotel and conference center at the foot of Nanshan Mountain |
On a blistering hot day recently, my wife and I went to the Evergreen Resort (Qingqing Shijie ιιδΈη, which gives its alternate English name, "Qing Qing World").
Although we didn't have enough time to explore it in depth, even a cursory visit revealed unimagined wonders. [To be frank, we didn't even pay admission to get inside the gates! But friends, who are frequent visitors, filled us in on how good it really is.]
The best principles of environmental design were used, making its location at the foot of Nanshan Mountain, and overlooking Moon Bay, not only beautiful, but also healthy and even educational.
Dinosaurs "run loose" in the Flower Market |
The place is filled with family activities, from swimming and hiking to pottery-making and ropes courses. Kids can view butterflies close-up, visit a tropical rainforest environment, or try the rock wall and obstacle course.
Unique sculptures decorate the entry area |
Park entrance is 50rmb for adults, 25 for kids under 1.5 meters, and free for those under 1.2 meters. Hotel guests are given passes for resort activities.
"Remote" as it is, getting there is easy. Bus 369 runs from Windows of the World Metro Station on Line 1 (the Luobao Line) and Line 2 (the Shekou Line) right into the Resort's parking lot.
