Drinking and Dining at Coco Park

The central court at Coco Park (the south precinct)

If you haven't been to Coco Park lately, there may be some surprises in store.

Some of the old favorites are gone, but a host of "new kids" have risen up. Here's a quick rundown of some of the places in "Coco Park" (also called "Shopping Park," or "Gou Wu Gong Yuan" [购物公园]).

South Precinct

South precinct basement: drink-and-dessert options AYSH (A Young Simple Heart), Spinelli Coffee, and Gaga; fast food places KFC and Yoshinoya (Japanese beef bowl); Malaysian dining at Pokok Kelapa Malayu.

Street level: the bar street has Loxton, Cabala 1972, Bar Demon, and the healthier Juicy Juicy. Snack at Honeymoon Desert, Costa Coffee, and the venerable Starbucks, as well as Haagen Dazs ice cream. The full service restaurant Red is currently preparing to open in Focaccino's old location.

Second floor: Illy Coffee, Watami "casual Japanese," Shi Ming Jia Korean restaurant, Burger King and Papa John's Pizza.

Third floor: the self-explanatory Supersteak and Yes Thai.

North Precinct

Moving to the north side of Fuhua Lu, in the basement: a food court full of Asian specialties; Subway Sandwiches; and Little India.

Street level: the homey La Casa, Rapscallions, and Mix Café and Bar; McCawley's Irish Pub, Tequila Coyote Mexican food, The Kitchen, and Amazon BBQ bar; Mountain Sea Feast and Bellagio Chinese; and bars/clubs like Lili Marlene, Q Club, Club Viva, Le Nest, and Le Bistro. On the second floor, Angelo's Italian Trattoria, and O! Garden pub up on the roof.

Stop in to Coco Park, and eat, drink, and be merry!
